The UK Vietnamese Network

The UK Vietnamese Network was formed after the first National Conference of the Vietnamese community organisation in September 2001. Its aims are to promote interest and raise the profile; share experience and support each other of the community organisations of refugees from Vietnam in the UK.

The Standing Committee comprised of 15 members representing different community organisations and individuals in the UK, holds meeting every quarter.

Since 2004, Refugee Action funded the UK Vietnamese Network £15,000 each year for 3 years and the funding is administered by Vietnamese Mental Health Services, who also provided administrative support to the Standing Committee.  The funding is used for:

-        Enable Vietnamese communities and Network in the UK to liaise nationally

-        Help community organisations of refugees from Vietnam to share information with each other, and to hold conference and cultural events

-        Help communities and Network in the UK with training or skill sharing they need to carry on their work and to ensure the needs of women from Vietnam are addressed

-        Enable stronger community organisations to assist the more vulnerable ones, particularly those in the regions outside London.

The Standing Committee is focus on planning and organizing the Summer Faire in summer 2007, to celebrate 25 years of successful integration of refugees from Vietnam in the UK.
